1. Positive flotation process
Applicable ore: single hematite with relatively simple mineral composition and mainly silicate veinstone.
Core principle: Under alkaline conditions (pH=9-11), selective capture of hematite with fatty acid trap (such as oxidized paraffin soap), so that it is floated.
Typical process: grinding (-0.074mm accounts for 80%) → slurry adjustment (Na₂CO₃ adjust pH) → positive flotation (one coarse and multiple concentrate) → concentrate dehydration.
Advantage: simple process, relatively low investment and chemical cost.
Indicator: concentrate grade is usually up to 62%-65%.
2. reverse flotation process (mainstream high-efficiency technology)
Applicable ores: Wide range of application, especially suitable for processing ores with more complex composition, and is the first choice for obtaining high-grade concentrate.
Core principle: inhibit hematite with starch and other inhibitors, flotation of quartz and other vein minerals with traps.
Anionic reverse flotation: activation of quartz with CaO, flotation of quartz with fatty acid-based trap. It needs to be carried out under high alkali (pH>11) environment.
Cationic reverse flotation: direct flotation of quartz with amine traps (e.g. dodecylamine). Carried out under weak alkaline (pH=8-9) environment, simple process, more widely used.
Advantage: High concentrate grade and good desiliconization effect.
Indicator: Concentrate grade can reach 65%-68% stably.
3. Combined sorting process
Positive-reverse flotation combination:
Flow: firstly, adopt positive flotation for rapid roughing and enrichment, and then carry out reverse flotation for deep desiliconization of rough concentrate.
Advantage: balance between recovery and concentrate grade.
Indicator: Concentrate grade can be more than 67%.
Combined magnetic separation-flotation:
Flow: first use strong magnetic separation (high gradient magnetic separator) to pre-enrichment, throw off a large number of tailings, and then carry out reverse flotation to improve the quality of the magnetic separation concentrate.
Application: Especially suitable for difficult to select hematite with micro-fine grains embedded or containing easily slaked veins.
Advantage: greatly reduce the amount of flotation, save energy and drug consumption, low comprehensive cost.
Index: concentrate grade can reach 68%-70%, recovery rate of 75% or more.
